Tunworth Cheesemakers Acquired by Savencia Fromage & Dairy
Tunworth Cheesemakers, based in Hampshire, UK, has been acquired by Savencia Fromage & Dairy for an undisclosed fee. Tunworth Cheese is a family-run business making artisan Tunworth , Hampshire Blue, and Baronet cheeses.
Savenica Fromage & Dairy is a global dairy company with over 32,000 employees. Its headquarters is located in France. The acquisition will see Tunworth Cheese become part of Savencia’s dairy portfolio, which also includes Yoplait, Elle & Vire, and Cœur de Lion.
Tunworth Cheesemakers was founded in 1989 by Nigel and Judy Miers. It is one of the leading producers of artisan cheese in the UK. The company uses traditional methods to make its cheese, which is sold to independent retailers and restaurants.
Savenicia Fromage & Dairy says the acquisition will help it to grow its presence in the UK cheese market. The company plans to invest in Tunworth Cheesemakers to help it expand its production capacity and develop new products.
Commenting on the acquisition, Nigel Miers, founder of Tunworth Cheesemakers, said:
“We are very pleased to join the Savencia family. Our commitment to making high-quality cheese remains the same, and with Savencia’s support, we will be able to achieve our growth ambitions so we can continue to delight our customers with our delicious cheeses.”
Jean-Paul Torris, President of Savencia Fromage & Dairy, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Tunworth Cheesemakers to the Savencia family. Tunworth Cheese is a well-respected brand, and we believe that it has great potential for growth. We look forward to working with the Tunworth team to help them achieve their goals.”
