AFL Champion Bo Allan, Dies at 78
Bo Allan, a legend of the Australian Football League (AFL), has passed away at the age of 78.
Allan was a dominant forward in the 1960s and 1970s, playing for the Carlton Football Club and St Kilda Football Club.
Allan played 188 games for Carlton from 1961 to 1972, kicking 789 goals and winning the club's best and fairest award in 1969.
He then played 44 games for St Kilda from 1973 to 1975, scoring 121 goals.
Allan was a member of Carlton's 1968 premiership team and played for Victoria 12 times.
He was inducted into the AFL Hall of Fame in 2002.
Allan's death was announced by the Carlton Football Club on Monday.
"The Carlton Football Club is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our champion player and Hall of Fame Legend, Bo Allan," the club said in a statement.
"Bo was a dominant forward in the 1960s and 1970s, renowned for his extraordinary goal-kicking ability and fierce determination," the statement continued.
"Our thoughts are with Bo's family and friends at this difficult time.
"He will be greatly missed by the Carlton family and the wider football community."
